Local SEO in Pakistan: a Google Business Profile checklist
For a business people search for by area, the Google Business Profile often matters more than the website. A practical checklist for businesses in Karachi, Lahore and across Pakistan.

When someone searches for a service with "near me" or an area name — a clinic in DHA, a caterer in Gulberg, a tile showroom on Shahrah-e-Faisal — the first results are usually map listings, not ordinary websites. Those listings come from Google Business Profile. For a business that serves customers in a particular city, getting that profile right is often the quickest SEO win available.
This is the checklist we work through for local businesses in Pakistan.
1. Claim and verify the profile
Search for your business on Google Maps first; a listing may already exist, created by a customer or by Google itself. Claim it rather than creating a duplicate. Verification methods vary — video, phone, email or postcard — and Google decides which ones you are offered. Duplicate listings are one of the most common reasons a profile underperforms, so resist creating a second one if the first is slow to verify.
2. Get the basics exactly right
- Business name: your real trading name, as it appears on your signage. Stuffing in keywords such as "Best SEO Company Karachi" breaks Google's guidelines and can get the listing suspended.
- Primary category: the most specific one that describes what you are. It influences ranking more than almost anything else you control. Add secondary categories only where they are genuinely true.
- Address and map pin: addresses in Pakistan are often written several ways. Choose one format, include the building, floor and area, and check that the pin sits on the actual entrance.
- Phone and hours: a number that is answered during the hours you list, including public holidays and Ramadan timings.
3. Keep your name, address and phone consistent everywhere
Google cross-checks your details against your website, social profiles and business directories. If the website shows one phone number, Facebook another and an old directory a third, confidence in the listing drops. Use exactly the same name, address and number in your website footer, contact page, social accounts and directory listings.
4. Add photos of the real place
Upload the storefront as seen from the street so people can find the entrance, the inside, the team, and your products or work. Real photographs do better than stock images and help people recognise the building when they arrive.
5. Build reviews steadily, and answer them
Ask satisfied customers for a review when the job is done, using the direct review link from your profile. Reply to every review, positive or negative, politely and specifically. Never buy reviews or offer discounts in exchange for them; both break Google's policies, and fake reviews can be removed in bulk.
6. Use services, products and posts
List your services with short descriptions, add products if you sell them, and publish updates for offers, events and seasonal hours. It gives Google more to match against searches, and gives people a reason to call.
7. Link the profile to a page that deserves the click
Point the profile at the most relevant page on your site, which is not always the homepage. If you have more than one branch, give each location its own page with its address, hours, map and phone number, marked up with LocalBusiness structured data. Add UTM parameters to the website link so visits from the profile show up separately in Google Analytics.
8. Get listed where local customers look
Consistent listings on reputable local directories and industry associations support the profile. Quality matters more than quantity; hundreds of low-quality directory submissions do nothing useful.
9. Watch the numbers
The profile's performance report shows searches, calls, direction requests and website clicks. Check it monthly. A drop in calls after changing your hours or category is a signal to look again.
What a profile cannot fix
Distance still matters: a profile will not rank in Lahore for a business based in Karachi. And a strong profile that links to a slow, thin website loses customers at the last step. Local SEO works best alongside a fast site with clear service and location pages.
If you would rather have someone handle it, our SEO services in Karachi and Lahore include Google Business Profile optimisation and local SEO, alongside the technical and content work that supports it.
